Not legal advice. These terms are a draft prepared by the LoonieLogic team from Canadian compliance research. A Canadian lawyer must review them before publication.
1. What you’re agreeing to
By using LoonieLogic (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site. We may update these terms; the current version is always on this page, and material changes will be announced on the Site before they take effect. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the new terms.
2. This site is education, not advice
LoonieLogic is an independent Canadian publisher of personal-finance education. Everything on the Site (articles, calculators, comparisons, verdicts, quizzes, and newsletters) is provided for educational and informational purposes only.
- Not advice. Nothing on the Site is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any product. We are not licensed to give advice, and nothing here is a recommendation for your situation.
- Not personalized. We don’t know your finances. Content is general; calculator results are estimates computed from the numbers you entered, using the assumptions we show. They are not tailored recommendations and not a substitute for professional advice.
- Verify before acting. Rates, limits, tax rules, and promotions change. We source every figure from official sources and stamp every page with its last-reviewed date, but figures can go stale. Confirming against official sources (CRA, Government of Canada, provider fee schedules, legislation) before making a decision, especially anything time-sensitive like a contribution deadline, is always the safer course.
- No securities recommendations. We never recommend buying, selling, or holding specific stocks, ETFs, or cryptocurrencies, and nothing on the Site is meant to be read that way.
- Professional advice. For advice tailored to your situation, a licensed professional is the right person to ask.
In short: LoonieLogic is for educational purposes only and is not financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. We explain how things work; we don’t tell you what to do with your money.
3. Calculators and estimates
Our calculators do math; they don’t decide for you.
- Results are estimates, rounded and simplified, based on your inputs and the assumptions displayed with each tool.
- Real outcomes depend on factors we can’t see: your full financial picture, future rule changes, and market returns. Every number here is a starting point for your own math, not a guarantee.
- Outputs framed as comparisons (“at these inputs, one option leaves about $X more at year 10”) are math on your numbers, not a recommendation.
- We aim for accuracy, but errors are possible, and tax brackets and contribution limits change every year. We are not responsible for decisions made from estimates.
4. Comparisons and affiliate links
- Some pages compare financial products and contain affiliate links: we may earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no extra cost to you. Full details: How we make money. Every such page carries a clear disclosure near the top.
- Comparison tables, rankings, and verdicts reflect our genuine, documented assessment as of the verification date shown. Promotions and rates change often, so the provider’s own site has the current offer.
- When you click an affiliate link you leave LoonieLogic, and the provider’s own terms and privacy policy apply from there. We are not responsible for the provider’s products, pricing, or conduct.
5. Your use of the Site
You agree to:
- Use the Site lawfully and for its intended purpose (learning and running your own numbers).
- Not misuse, disrupt, scrape at abusive volume, or attempt to break the Site or its tools.
- Not rely on the Site as a substitute for professional advice (see section 2).
The Site is intended for users in Canada. Some content (tax rules, and account types like the TFSA, RRSP, and FHSA) is Canada-specific and may not apply elsewhere.
6. Intellectual property
- Content on the Site (articles, calculators and their logic, designs, and copy) is owned by LoonieLogic or its licensors, unless stated otherwise.
- You may share links to our pages freely, quote short excerpts with attribution, and print pages for personal use.
- You may not republish substantial portions of our content, remove our disclosures or attributions, or present our content as your own without written permission.
7. No warranties; limitation of liability
- The Site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose. We work hard to be accurate, but we can’t guarantee it.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, LoonieLogic is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Site, including decisions you make based on its content or calculator outputs.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited (including under Canadian consumer-protection statutes).
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LoonieLogic from claims arising from your misuse of the Site or your breach of these terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Alberta.
10. Severability and entire agreement
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. These terms, plus the Privacy Policy and the Affiliate Disclosure, are the entire agreement between you and LoonieLogic about your use of the Site.
